Teaching:

I have extensive experience teaching cadaver-based human anatomy to a range of students from diverse backgrounds (16 years of experience at four different institutions) including both undergraduate (Biology majors and non-science majors) and post-graduate students (e.g., medical, dental, physical and occupational therapy, nursing). I am currently course director for three graduate-level anatomical sciences courses (Human Neurobiology, Human Gross Anatomy, and Human Embryology) and two undergraduate courses (Functional Human Anatomy & Advanced Human Anatomy).

Program Director: Human Anatomical Sciences (M.S; Ph.D.)

As Director of the Human Anatomical Sciences graduate program I have been able to expand my teaching and mentoring to students that specifically desire to focus their core curriculum in Anatomy. Core coursework focuses a strong foundation in Gross Human Anatomy, Histology, Embryology and Neurobiology, as well as a course in teaching pedagogy entitled “Theory and Practice of Teaching in the Human Anatomical Sciences” designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop teaching skills associated with instructional excellence. As part of the Master’s program, each student completes a project with teaching value in anatomical sciences – these include a large range of formats including focused laboratory videos, 3D printed and moldable plastic models, targeted dissections, scientific illustrations, and more. This program was developed to prepare graduates to teach human Anatomy & Physiology, but is also used as a bridge program to health-sciences graduate programs (e.g., medical, dental, physical therapy, osteopathy).
